Desperate Times...

Charon made his way back to the area where Sam and the others were hiding. It had been a few hours, Charon had actually gotten some sleep before heading out to meet with the guys. He didn't want to take the chance that Lazy Eye had sent people to follow Charon. Leaving in the middle of the night allowed Charon to make sure he wasn't being followed. Plus, by this point the guys would have received the medical supplies that Charon had promised them. This meant that they would be at least able to talk when Charon approached them. They were wanted men, so Charon had a feeling that one of them was staying awake at all times.

Charon just walked down the tunnel, holding his hands up to make sure that he wouldn't be shot because any of them were paranoid. They were going to love what Charon had to say...

Sam was tending to Orlando's wounds when Charon came into the tunnel; he looked up to see Charon and waved. He seemed to be significantly calmer than their last meeting. "Seems you came alone. Appreciate you bringing one of his hunting parties." He called out.
Orlando held up his uninjured arm in a thumbs up and added, "And the supplies. Was getting a bit light headed there."
Heavy footsteps sounded behind Charon, and the Janitor entered the tunnel, carrying two bags of fast food. "Excuse me, sir." He muttered as he pushed past Charon. He handed one of the bags to Sam, who reached in and pulled out a large, double decker burger; he hadn't eaten since before Mammon's raid, and he was famished. Orlando pulled out a quarter-pounder burger, and the Janitor started munching on fries from his own bag.
Sam looked up to Charon as he started eating. "What'd Lazy Eye want? And what'd you say to him?" He asked with a full mouth.

"As we expected he wanted to make it very clear that I'd prove my loyalty by handing any of the three of you over to him when the time came" Charon said simply as he didn't feel the need to waste time on breaking down the entire meeting. "I gave him a bit of a threat for treating me like shit but otherwise allowed him to think that I was on the "winning" side" Charon said as he looked about the tunnel. "The meeting was very productive though, I got to spend a bit of time with a few new people..."

Charon's smile grew through his mask. "And luckily for all of us, I know exactly how to take Lazy Eye down now" Charon said before looking over to Janitor. Charon had watched him and Mute fight. It had been a brutal battle, and Mute had only barely held the victory through his brute strength. Mute and Janitor had mutual respect for one another, so Charon was confident that he was trustworthy for this mission. "Up for a small assignment Janitor? It's nothing huge, but it could mean our victory"

Janitor nodded, part of a french fry breaking off in his mouth and falling to the floor. "Who's head's getting opened and where?" He asked, immediately assuming he was expected to clean up someone's mess; he had the name for a reason, after all.
Sam held up his hand to the Janitor. "Whoa, whoa, who's this new person you met? Who's Lazy Eye chosen for his bodyguards?" He narrowed his eyes, more in a curious than aggressive fashion. "And what did the idiot say or do to warrant a threat at the Golden Dragon of all places?"

"Nothing like that Janitor, just need you to pay someone a visit at their home. No violence necessary, just a talking to" Charon said with a small smile through his mask. Sam cut in though and forced Charon to start moving his train of thought in a different direction.

"Hawk and Felix" Charon said in explanation to Sam's question. "And in terms of what he did, he talked to me like I was nothing more than an errand boy, so I reminded him calmly not to try and fuck with me unless he wanted to get hurt. I was defending my pride, but the idiot still things I'm going to hand over the lot of you when I find you" Charon said before turning back to Janitor.

"And that's why I need you to act fast. "Tomorrow around dinner time I want you to pay a visit to this address" Charon said before handing Janitor a piece of paper along with a small packet. "That's the home of Felix, his REAL home where his family and kids are. I want you to pay him a visit and catch him off guard. Ya see, Felix is afraid of the day when his old lady figures out what he really does for a living. You're going to threaten to expose that secret unless he follows instructions and leads Lazy Eye in to our trap. Should Felix follow orders like a good soldier, we'll allow him to stay in the gang and he'll have my word that his kids won't have to pay a dime for college"

"I can't promise the same for Hawk though. He's going to have to die right after Lazy Eye does"

Janitor nodded; he seemed to be ready to embark on this mission. Sam, however, was not. He stood up and walked over to Charon. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Where I come from, you involve ONLY those who are involved. You wanna use Felix as leverage? I'm fine with that. Going and messing with the man's family? I hate the guy as much as the next, but--"
"But nothing, Sam." Orlando interrupted. "We're running with Charon now. His rules. You never backtalked Father, don't start here."
"Father never pulled this kinda sick shit!" Sam snapped.
"Father's dead." Orlando said coldly. "And it's not like Charon's saying to go and kill his wife and kids. Just tell them the truth about his life."
Sam narrowed his eyes and looked back and forth between Orlando and Charon. He very visibly was still upset about the situation, but he knew full well when he was beaten, and knew he wouldn't win this fight.

"Not even that" Charon said as he understood Sam's concern. "We're not going to expose Felix, unless he refuses to play along" Charon said as he looked from Janitor to Sam. "I know you're not happy with the situation, but someone like Felix going against Lazy Eye is the best way for this to be done without bloodshed. If I don't bring Felix to our side, I'll have to kill him to make a statement, then his kids will grow up without a father. This way, everyone wins but Lazy Eye"

Charon turned to Sam again. "Hawk spoke to me before I left the Golden Dragon....he wanted me to tell you that it's not personal, but he's going to try and kill you if he sees you" Charon lied. Sam didn't need to know the truth. Hawk was loyal to Lazy Eye, there was no sense in putting hope in Sam's heart that this friend could be saved or prove honorable.

"Now, unless someone has a better idea Janitor has some work to do"

Janitor opened up the note and nodded. "I'll start getting ready." He said and headed off deeper into the tunnel.
Sam cracked his neck; he didn't try to hide the disdain on his face at the situation regarding Felix, but said nothing on the subject. "I'm surprised Hawk would take the time to say something so blatantly obvious. He's not normally the kind to make small talk, let alone the kind that would show his hand, even if I already knew he was lining me up in his crosshairs." He narrowed his eyes at Charon somewhat; he couldn't help but feel that there was something off, but he didn't have any ground to stand on. Perhaps Hawk was just trying to make peace with Sam before putting him in the ground. Perhaps not. Whatever the case, Sam had to keep his head down until the dust settled.

"You have nothing to worry about. I think he was more trying to make me reveal that I've already been in contact with you" Charon said to Sam.

Yes, Charon was lying about what Hawk said. Charon didn't trust the man was worth the time to save. He could have helped or turned on Lazy Eye, but he didn't. He had picked his side, and he was going to pay those consequences. "We will need to hear back from Janitor before we make our next move"
