Diamante Spada, all around model student in all ways aside from social interaction, was experiencing just another day in her attendance of Alabaster High. With a large, Italian designer purse on her right shoulder that held her books and supplies, Dia was in a bit of a rush to get to her next class. Outwardly it wouldn't much look that way, however, as she moved at what most people understood as a slow walk. There was never enough time between periods for her to get to her next class, even worse if she needed to pee! Fortunately, she was considered temporarily disabled while her body caught up to the uncanny weight she'd been cursed with and so she was always given a rather wide grace period before she was considered tardy.

She was 'walking' her way straight down the center of the hall, her eyes almost constantly cast down at her feet. She'd walk closer to the walls if she could, but that would mean having to constantly dodge and walk around other students at their lockers and for her that could add another full minute or two to her travels depending on how busy it was between periods. It was just easier to be a huge moving barricade in the center of the hall and allow people to walk around her since she was usually so easily spotted even amidst a crowd.

Yin and Yang Equilan were stopped at their lockers, casually talking to one another as they waited for their next class to start. There was still a few minutes before the bell rang, and their next class was only a few feet from where they already were, so they ran no risk of being late. As they talked, they noticed a rather large figure lumbering through the hall; it was Dia, who they shared a class with the previous semester. They always found her incredibly fun to "play" with due to her incredibly passive nature and social discomfort. They decided to, for old times sake, say hello to her. They walked through the crowd, stopping dead in her path.
"Poor little Dia..." Yin cooed condescendingly.
"It looks like you might be late to class again..." Yang added, his tone the same mock sympathy. The two smiled wickedly at her, knowing full well that they were delaying her further by blocking her path and talking to her. They laced their fingers together loosely and waited for her response.

Dia was forced to stop dead in her tracks as she noticed a pair of feet step in front of her to be quickly followed by another pair. Oh no... Her expression sank as she realized who had just stepped in front of her without even needing to glance up to look them in the eyes. Instead she merely shuffled in place and readjusted her bag on her shoulder nervously as their condescending voices let her know that she was right on the money.

"Um... hello, Mr. and Ms. Equilan..." She addressed them respectfully despite their prior treatment of her and their current shenanigans. "P-please... I'm really in a hurry right now..." Assuming that her plea would be ignored despite asking politely, Dia was already acting to slowly bypass them off to one side.

Eat the Rich Empty Re: Eat the Rich

The twins giggled and stepped back in front of her as Dia stepped to one side. "She's so very formal, isn't she, loving sister?" Yang asked.
"So polite indeed, gracious brother." Yin agreed.
"Oh, no, she's not polite. Trying to brush past us just as we start a pleasant conversation." Yang corrected his sister.
"That's right, dear brother. Very rude of her indeed." Yin's eyebrows raised in mock surprise.
"Come now, little Dia." Yang cooed, knowing full well "little" was the least accurate adjective he could use to describe Dia. "We just wanted to say hello to you for a moment..."
"Of course. Just a polite greeting to the daughter of our father's friend." Yin added. The two bowed slightly, then stood back up. "Don't worry, we won't keep you any longer."
The twins released their hands from each other and stepped to either side, letting her pass between them. "We'll just continue our conversation after school today." The twins chimed in unison, smiling coldly at her; they knew full well that she disliked social interaction, especially with them, and so promising that they'd come find her after school would certainly be something to plague her mind for the next several hours.

Eat the Rich Empty Re: Eat the Rich

Post by Phalanx Mon Sep 12, 2016 9:18 pm

Dia nibbled nervously at her bottom lip as the two chose to block her attempt to circumvent their delaying tactics, forced to stop once again before she simply bowled them over. She certainly could have done it and they would have had no way to stop her from continuing forward, but she simply wasn't that kind of person.

"Um..." There was a long hesitation as they finished with their own conversation that barely involved her at all, ending on the promise that they'd be speaking again once school was out for the day. Her next breath shuddered before she spoke up and continued forward, moving a bit faster than she had before despite the stress it put on her body. She'd likely be a panting, sweaty mess by the time she got to class at this rate. "Thank you... good bye..."

Once the final bell rang, Dia failed to move from her seat, the entire thing a heavy construction of various metals designed to withstand her weight and more. She'd wait in the quickly emptying classroom, gathering her things into her bag at an incredibly slow rate. Once she was positive that the twins would have certainly become bored of waiting for her by now and gone home, Dia herself raised from her seat and began the long journey to her home. At this rate it would likely be dark before she reached the comfort of her room...

Eat the Rich Empty Re: Eat the Rich

Post by Equilibrium Mon Sep 12, 2016 9:34 pm

The twins paced back and forth past each other a few blocks down from the school, walking opposite directions on parallel cracks in the sidewalk. The had decided to wait a bit aways from the school to give Dia the illusion that they had abandoned their desire to "speak" with her after school. They couldn't help but smile to themselves as the time passed by; she was trying to wait them out. Between that and the distance between them and the school, they felt certain they'd get to see that wonderful moment when hope leaves someone's eyes. They didn't think of themselves as sadistic, though it was often a topic of debate between them if they were, but they always settled on the idea that they were instead simply "entertained by the human condition". Not everyone was able to read emotions very well, and not everyone could witness such a moment as them.
Time continued to pass. The twins began to wonder if she had found an alternate route home. The twins were patient, incredibly so, but this did not mean they were immune to doubt. After nearly two hours, however, they saw a large figure coming up the road towards them. The twins met in the middle of the sidewalk and loosely laced their fingers together again, and began walking towards it. A smile crept across their faces as they approached Dia. "How very rude of you to keep us waiting, tardy Dia." Yin scolded playfully when they got close enough.
"Very rude indeed. We almost thought that you didn't want to speak with us." Yang agreed.

Eat the Rich Empty Re: Eat the Rich

Post by Phalanx Mon Sep 12, 2016 9:49 pm

The entire woman's posture instantly deflated as she noticed the two small figures practically skipping up to join her and once again bar her path. There was no happiness on Dia's face at this now entirely unexpected intrusion upon her valuable time, entirely incapable of hiding such a strong emotion as her disappointment now was.

"Hello again..." she answered them quietly. "...The wait doesn't appear to have spoiled your good spirits at all... That's... that's good... I guess... I really should be getting home... It's very late..." The young woman looked truly forlorn and pitiable now in her distressed state, desperately attempting to end this conversation before it became troublesome. At this point she just wanted to crawl into her bed with a good book and pretend that none of this ever happened, but she knew that these two would keep her well into the night if they so desired, such was their fascination with upsetting her.

Eat the Rich Empty Re: Eat the Rich

The twins' eyes lit up as they saw her posture deflate, but they couldn't help but feel somewhat sorry for her. I think this is being a bit too taxing on her, dear brother... Yin thought, silently conversing with her brother as Dia spoke. She seems truly melancholic...
Then perhaps, sweet sister, we should do something to raise her spirits. Yang replied. Let us remind her how powerful she really is...
The twins laughed slightly when Dia finished speaking. "Come now, timid Dia..." Yang said, pushing his thoughts into action. "Don't beat around the bush."
"You don't like us very much at all, now do you?" Yin added.
"I'm honestly surprised why you don't just swat us aside."
"She really could, you know..."
"Very easily." They said in unison.
"You do have a power, now don't you?" Yin asked.
"Go ahead and use it to push us aside, and surely we'll leave you be..." Yang added, his abnormally dark eyes twinkling wickedly.

Eat the Rich Empty Re: Eat the Rich

Dia cast her gaze down at the two before her with a great amount of doubt in her expression.

"Shoving the two of you about is highly unnecessary when all you'd need to do is step aside and allow me to pass. As an idea of your own concoction I feel as though it would be bad advice for me to follow even if I were inclined to use my strength to push you aside..." she reasoned sagely with little thought put into the process. Whenever the twins desired for her to do something... the outcome was never in her favor.

Instead of doing what they were suggesting, Dia took a quick glance around the area for any potential help she may be able to get, but found no one capable of getting her out of her predicament. If only she hadn't waited so long...

The twins smiled at her; they fully expected her to refuse to use her power, which was part of the reason that they felt so comfortable challenging her. "Quite the words of wisdom, clever Dia..." Yin sarcastically snickered.
"Sage words indeed..." Yang added. "But still quite foolish."
"You let us push you around so much, little Dia." Yin said, her voice something akin to a friend trying to offer advice, although her bright eyes and smile contradicted this sentiment. "Even though it is quite plain that it hurts you to do so."
"Which is quite peculiar, when you think about it..." Yang added darkly, raising his palm to the air, causing a black orb of energy to come forth in his palm; as he did, his sister did the same motion, and a white orb appeared in her hands. "Because you do seem to have rather thick skin..." As though on cue, Yin raised her hand and shot the white orb of energy hurdling towards Dia at incredible speed, aiming directly for the horn on her forehead. When it connected, it exploded in a bright flash of white light with a loud POP. The twins laughed hysterically at this, Yin's orb of energy rapidly regenerating to its golf-ball size in her hand.

Eat the Rich Empty Re: Eat the Rich

Dia remained stoically silent and motionless as the twins continued on about her willingness to be pushed around. At least she was until the two of them both raised their hands to manifest their powers in small contrasting balls of energy.

"W-what...?" Dia questioned in frightened shock, her eyes wide in surprise. Were they really about to fire at her?! She took half a step back before Yin let her attack fly, incapable of dodging or blocking something so unexpected as it struck her horn and exploded. She let out a cute yelp of fear and surprise while reaching up to rub at her eyes with the sleeve of her dress in distress. That was really bright and kind of hot! "Ngh... Please... I just want to g-go home..." she whimpered.

Eat the Rich Empty Re: Eat the Rich

The twins' laughing calmed down, and they smiled calmly back at her. "Not yet, little Dia." Yin said. "Not until we help you see how powerful you are."
"We're helping you." Yang calmly cooed. "You'll be thankful we did this in the long run..." Yang aimed his hand at her, widely telegraphing his attack. The twins had no intention of hurting her; they simply wanted to see how far she would let them push her. Yang fired, aiming for her stomach. The orb itself moved incredibly fast, but he had telegraphed his attack for several seconds beforehand, giving Dia more than enough time to block, but probably not dodge.

"This isn't helping at all!" Dia protested forcefully, raising an arm to defend her stomach before another ball of energy was fired at her, this one fizzling out harmlessly against her defensive exoskeleton, though it did lightly scorch the fabric of her sleeve. "Please stop!" It had been ages since she'd raised her voice like this, but using their power against her was really pushing things way too far!

Yin giggled. "Well, it doesn't seem to be hurting you that much, either, now does it?" She fired another blast at Dia's torso.
"No, it doesn't seem to be hurting her very much at all, beloved sister. Frustrating her, perhaps. But hurting? Not at all." Yang grinned widely, raising his hand and firing again.
"She's certainly stronger than she gives herself credit for, good brother." Yin agreed.
"Than she gives herself credit for, or allows herself to be?"
"That is a very good question..."

"Your riddles aren't amusing!" Dia shouted back in frustration. She could already feel her arm entering the first stage of fatigue, having held it up for at least 30 seconds now as she guarded against the twins' rain of attacks. The muscle in her lower arm sparked with a gentle burning that would only steadily increase if she continued to hold her arm up defensively. She could always continue to guard with her other arm, but that was only a temporary solution to an ongoing problem.

Frustration and desperation were beginning to push her toward choices that she wouldn't normally in her right mind make... For now she only stood her ground, her eyes flaring up with an oncoming anger. Hurtful words could only go so far, but to outright attack her was just awful!

Eat the Rich Empty Re: Eat the Rich

The twins cocked their heads curiously at her. She was still standing her ground, letting them simply bombard her with their power. True, she didn't seem to be getting injured and so could likely weather out whatever they could dish out at her.
Perhaps this is nothing more than a waste of time, good brother. Yin thought to Yang.
Perhaps it is, dear sister. Yang tentatively agreed.
"Let's try... A little higher." Yang muttered aloud under his breath. He raised his arm slightly higher, aiming the orb at Dia's face. He paused before firing, giving her time to block. They still didn't want to hurt her; they took pleasure in seeing people squirm, not scream. Pain was brutal and tasteless, and so they felt that inflicting it was not only not fun for them, but needlessly cruel to the rest. After waiting a sufficient amount of time, Yang fired his energy ball, which, on impact, exploded in a dark black light that seemed to dim the street lamps nearby for a brief moment.
Yang retracted his hand, and the two held their positions for a moment; they paused to see her reaction, and certainly seemed as though they were growing bored of this.

Dia easily had enough time to raise her opposite hand up to cover her face, yet another attack aimed at her fizzling out into nothing against her defenses. She peaked down at the two between her clawed fingers, eyes blazing bright in the approaching darkness.

"Are you done wasting our time yet?" she questioned sternly. They didn't appear to be attacking her anymore, but she still kept her arms up in case her defenses were still necessary.

The twins' eyebrows shot up when they saw her eyes; they were burning with aggression and rebellion. They couldn't help but smile at her. "Well, it seems that you're fed up with us, now doesn't it, little Dia?" Yin cooed at her.
"Very fed up with us indeed." Yang agreed. "It seems we've gotten a bit of a spark going in you."
The twins slowly closed their palms, allowing the orbs of energy to dissipate as they did. "See? Was that so hard?" Yin asked.
"All we wanted you to do was apply a bit of force, stop being so..." Yang snapped his fingers a few times, trying to think up the correct words.
"Timid? No, that's not right..." Yin tried.
"Passive? No, that won't do either..." Yang shook his head.
The twins then turned to each other, and their eyes lit up. "Ah, yes! Boring, that's the word we were looking for." They said in unison. They looked back to her and bowed slightly.
"We're sorry for inconveniencing you, little Dia." Yang apologized, though his voice seemed as though he had thoroughly enjoyed himself.
"But it was all for your own good. We may not seem like it, but we actually like you quite a bit." Yin explained.
"It would be a shame to see you ground into nothing due to sheer passiveness." Yang added. The two smiled and raised from their bow, waiting for Dia's response.

"I'd rather be nothing like the two of you..." Dia's voice burned with the same ire that her eyes now did, though not quite so literally. She came at the two of them like a fast-walking freight train, ignoring the burning in her legs as she bumped the two of them aside to walk between them, reaching her heavy hand forward to separate their own grip on one another if they refused to give. "I don't care if you think it's boring."

The twins noticed her advance, and quickly released hands and stepped to opposite sides of the sidewalk, not wanting to be in her path as she advanced. They said nothing as she passed, and watched in silence as she left. Once she disappeared from view, the two looked at each other and grinned widely.
"I think we helped her significantly today, don't you, kind sister?"
"Oh, most certainly, loving brother. I doubt she'll be letting us, or much of anyone, try to walk on her anymore."
"A productive day, then?"
"Very productive, indeed."
