Feast or Mammon Empty Feast or Mammon

Post by Charon Tue Aug 23, 2016 11:40 pm

Mute drove the car down the lonely road, heading to the corner where Sam had requested to be picked up. Tonight, they would be dealing with the problem known as Mammon. After a few weeks of peace after Father's funeral, tensions were starting to rise as the once powerful gang started to realize that Typhon was the new organization of former Red Diamond members. A few strikes had been made, but nothing too critical. Charon wanted this war to end before any more resources were lost. Tonight was about two things: elimination and scoring some loot. Mute had heard word of a building where over half of Mammon's drugs were being created and delivered. If they were able to take the stronghold, Typhon would gain a huge power spike in this war. That was why Charon requested that Mute and Sam take care of this personally. Rumor had it that guards were low in number at this place as Mammon was trying to not draw attention. Mute and Sam were to infiltrate and execute anyone they found.

Mute turned a corner and saw Sam standing there, his face hidden in the darkness. Mute pulled over next to him and opened the door for him, nodding to Sam before starting to drive to their mission.

Sam climbed into the passenger seat of the car and immediately began taking inventory of what he had brought along with him on the job; he brought his knuckledusters, more for luck than actually using them; his switchblade, in the event that he needed to access his blood quickly; his magnum, for safety's sake; and a lighter, just in case they had to bail without grabbing any loot. While no one knew who it was that burned down the Red Diamond's drug den, Sam couldn't think of who it could have been apart from Mammon, and he was always willing to repay a debt...
"Not gonna lie, Mute," Sam said with his trademark wolfish grin. "I'm looking forward to this. I've been itching to hit these guys for a while, and you seem like the kinda guy I want to have at my back." Sam undid the safety on his magnum and slid it down the back of his pants, then slid on his knuckledusters, giving them a kiss for good luck. "We're doing this nice and quiet until we get spotted, yeah?"

Mute smiled before giving a thumbs up followed by holding a finger to his lips to show that he agreed with the stealth. He motioned to the two knives that he held before also motioning to his shotgun in the backseat. The knives would be good for taking out a few guards, but if things got heated Sam would be grateful that Mute brought his trademark weapon.

After several minutes of driving, they arrived at the abandoned warehouse. Another victim of Mocca City, the building was crumbling and genuinely looked terrible with several windows and bricks missing. To most it would look abandoned, but Sam would see that there were a few small lights on the fourth floor. They looked no bigger than lantern lights, which made sense since Mammon was trying to avoid detection. The sun had just gone down, meaning that darkness was on their side. Mute parked the car before hopping out, ready to move with Sam once he was ready.

Sam climbed out of the car as well, armed and focused. "We kill the men, then come back to the car for the bags so we can grab the goods, yeah?" Sam whispered. He moved his turtleneck up to cover the lower portion of his face, and quickly crossed the street, ducking into the alley along the side of the building. He waited for Mute to catch up before checking around the back of the building.

The back of the building seemed perfectly clear. As they approached there didn't appear to be any guards around, much like the report said there weren't too many guards here. Mute motioned to the building, indicating that he believed anyone would be inside rather than outside. If Mammon was trying to be low-key, they wouldn't have armed guards outside patrolling the area. Though Mute could only talk through some grunts and sounds, Sam had started learning how to communicate and understand him much like Charon did.

Mute took point on entering the building, holding his knives as he moved in. Just like the outside, the inside seemed to be deserted on the bottom floor. Mute moved around the room before looking to Sam and shaking his head. Not a single thing on the first floor.

Sam looked around, his eyes straining in the dark. He didn't like how quiet it all was; even if they were trying to keep a low profile, not even having lookouts on the first floor? That sort of thing was just foolish, especially for a group as large as Mammon. "Mute..." He whispered. "I don't like this. Seems to me like something's up... Keep on your toes." Without another word, Sam drew his switchblade and made a quick cut at the base of his left palm; better to be prepared than not. Regardless of Sam's apprehensions, there was a job that needed done. "Lead the way, Mute."

Mute nodded, also agreeing that something seemed up. He removed his shotgun and armed it, putting every shell he could in before starting to move up the next flight of stairs. Mute moved up the stairs like a trained soldier, knowing well how to move that shotgun to find anyone attempting to catch them off guard. He moved up to the second floor and opened another doorway. Once again, no one was here. However, there was a table in the middle of the room, a single lantern on it with a large amount of papers strewn about...

Papers? Sam thought. Wasn't this a drug den? Who in their right mind would keep the inventory of their drugs NEXT to the pile of drugs? This whole thing was seeming fishier and fishier by the moment. Sam looked around the room, taking a few steps forward and away from Mute, not stepping into the light yet, but getting a better view of the room. It didn't seem like anyone was there, either. If they were trying to keep a low profile, wouldn't they turn off the lantern when they left? "Mute." He whispered back to his companion. "Pretty sure they know we're here..."

Mute moved forward, wanting to see what the papers were for. He lowered his gun for a moment to look at the pages. They were all blank. Mute's eyes narrowed as he turned toward Sam. However, as he did so the barrel of his gun bumped the lantern and caused it to fall to the ground. The item landed and shattered in to several pieces, destroying the last light source on this floor of the building. It was barely possible to see at this point. However, not a single sound came from the shattering of the glass or anything like. There was only silence.

Sam suddenly saw a figure fall from the ceiling before landing on the table, quickly kicking Mute in the back of the head. Again, no sound as he landed or attacked Mute. Mute screamed, but nothing came from his throat. The figured was a tall man, wearing a black body suit that had pieces of Kevlar fashioned in key areas for protection. He wore a mask that only exposed his eyes, black and tight for simplistic use. He turned his head towards Sam before pulling out two pistols and firing. Again, no sound came from the weapons, but the bullets certainly were coming...

The entire scene was jarring to Sam at first, primarily due to the absolute silence of it all. As soon as the pistols came out, Sam's focus immediately returned. He focused his attention on his internal blood, hardening it to give himself some body armor of his own. He began running towards the man, the bullets landing on him, but none passing his blood vessels, preventing any significant damage. A fight only truly lasts fifteen seconds. Whoever wins the first fifteen will almost always win the whole thing. Sam wasn't able to run his full speed due to giving himself this protection, but he was still pretty damn fast. In two seconds he was within arms reach of the dark figure, reaching out to grab him by the front of his getup.

The man saw that Sam wasn't stopping from the bullets. Well now that was interesting. The man smiled through his mask before throwing the guns to either side. He swung his arms out, and Sam would see that there was a mechanism on his wrists, releasing two long blades that extended out above his wrists and gave him several feet of metal blade to work with. The man slashed at Sam to drive him away from his headlong attack. The blades were very sharp, and would likely still cause a great deal of damage to Sam if he was caught by them. As soon as Sam moved out of his attack, the Man turned and tripped Mute who was just getting back up before going to slash down at him. Mute used his shotgun to block the blade a few times, though Sam would notice that the blades were starting to cut through the gun.

Sure enough, Sam ducked out of the way of the long blades. Once he turned and started attacking Mute, Sam knew he had to act fast; he loosened the blood in his veins, losing the protection he had, but gaining back his immense speed and strength. In a single leap, he pounced forward, ramming his body into the man and attempting to wrap his arms around his neck. What sort of idiot turns his back on a guy who can eat bullets? Sam thought to himself.

Despite there being no sound in the room, the man reacted to Sam as if he knew he was coming. After Mute blocked one more attack, the man suddenly did the splits as Sam went to go and grab him. The man shot up immediately, dealing a quick upper cut to Sam. By this point, Mute had finally turned his gun and fired a shell right in to the man's back. Still no sound, but the man was sent several feet away before skidding to a halt though. The bullets had affected him, but the man didn't seem out for the count at all. The man looked to both Mute and Sam before leaping up, disappearing in to the darkness of the ceiling...

Sam staggered at the man's speed and reaction time. And the uppercut. That really didn't help the situation. Either way, Sam ended up floored. The man disappeared into the ceiling, and Sam looked up to see where he went. What the hell is this guy? Sam thought. Either way, they had a job to do, and now that Sam knew what he was up against, he felt confident in his ability to take on whoever it was so long as he could get close to them on his terms... And that meant not taking the stairs up.
Sam put a hand on Mute's shoulder and made a gesture for him to stay where he was. After that, Sam turned toward one of the supporting walls, hardened his blood to take the damage he knew he was going to take, and ran toward the wall at almost a hundred miles an hour, breaking through the wall, but certainly bruising his shoulder; thankfully, he hardened his blood beforehand, so the damage wasn't going to be much deeper than that. Now he just had to hope his newfound abilities could withstand a floor collapsing on him...

The floor collapsed, causing a great amount of debris to fall. Mute saw the man hop off, quickly moving to make sure he wasn't caught in the debris. The man ducked as Mute fired off one of his shotgun shells, but ultimately made it through one of the doorways. Just as the man left the room, sounsd suddenly filled the area once again. Mute turned to where Sam was, running over and moving the debris to help unbury his comrade. He found Sam and pulled him out, quickly dusting him off and checking to make sure that he was alright. Mute smiled as he saw the blood hardening had saved Sam's life.

They didn't have long to celebrate though.

As the two stood up they heard something slam. Mute ran to a window and looked down, his face visibly showing concern. He motioned Sam over. As Sam looked out the window he'd see four cars pull in, all of them from Mammon. Each car had five men get out, all of them well armed. The men started to circle the building, ready to converge upon it. They were surrounded.

Sam didn't survey the scene for long; there wasn't much to survey. If Mammon's boys wanted to fight, he'd give them something to think about. He ran back toward the debris pile, picked up a large steel beam, went back to the window, and hurled it out, showering broken glass and a several hundred pound piece of steel hurdling down to the streets below. "COME AND GET US, PEASANTS!" Sam shouted out the broken window as the deadly rain descended on a number of them. The act was quite loud, and the men below would likely be able to get out of the way alive, but it was most likely going to at least injure some of them and disorient the entire pack, buy Sam and Mute time to regroup. "We evacuate as soon as the chance presents itself." Sam said. "Two man job my ass. What matters is us getting out of here alive." Sam looked back inside the building for a good place to hide, but almost everything on this floor was in the open thanks to Sam's antics.

Mute shot Sam a look as he threw the beat out of the window. That obviously couldn't look like an accident, and now the men knew which floor they were on. Great, now they'd be hurrying up here and Mute didn't have a ton of ammo left after fighting and trying to kill that assassin guy who was still nowhere to be found. Didn't matter anymore, all that mattered was getting out of there alive. They didn't have a vehicle now, but perhaps Mammon would be willing to lend them a car.

A few of the Mammon boys were cut by the glass, but for the most part they all kept moving, ready to flank the two men and kill them. Mute looked to Sam, wondering how he wanted to play this. They were coming up from the first floor, so they didn't have a lot of time to make a decision here.

Sam pulled the magnum out of the back of his pants and tossed it to Mute. "You'll make better use of this than I will." He said, moving towards the stairwell. He pressed himself against the wall on one side of it, and motioned for Mute to take cover behind the debris pile. "Wait for a few to get into the room." He whispered. "Once you start firing, I'm gonna go in on these guys." Sam then allowed himself to bleed from the cut on his left hand, forming a blade about six inches long. With the darkness and confusion of having a large man appear from behind a pile of debris shooting a shotgun at them, Sam thought it would be a pretty safe bet that he'd be able to kill two of these guys before the rest had a clue he was even there.

Mammon moved in, four of them remaining on the first floor while a group of eight each moved up opposite sets of stairs to try and converge on Mute and Sam. Thankfully, Mute and Sam were creating a chokepoint for at least one of them. While the assassin had destroyed the lantern for them, he had also destroyed the only light that Mammon's boys could use against them as well. As a few of them walked in to the room, Mute moved from behind the corner and immediately show two of them dead. After this the others began reacting, ready to fight back. At the same time, from the opposite end of the room Sam would hear running. The men from the other staircase heard the commotion and were trickling in to aid their comrades.

They had to move, now.

The moment the two men dropped dead, Sam rushed forward, plunging his bladed left hand into the throat of one of the men while wrapping his arm around the throat of a second , quickly crushing his windpipe with his immense strength. The last four realized what was happening, and one hit his left shoulder with the butt of his gun, and Sam felt a sharp jolt of pain shoot through it; seems like the collapse of the floor above them dislocated something...
Sam fell to one knee in pain, but took advantage of this position by delivering a powerful right punch to the man's groin. Once he bent over in pain, Sam grabbed him by the throat with his right hand and squeezed with all his might, choking the man and crushing his windpipe as well. Sam's compromised position, however, left him fully open to the last man, who put his magnum to the top of Sam's head, ready to shoot. Sam hoped Mute would be able to do something to save him, and fast.

Mute thankfully was prepared to move and help Sam. While the others were coming from the other side of the room, they didn't open fire for fear of hitting their own men, and it was too dark to make out clear targets. Thankfully Sam and Mute were able to keep close check of one another. Just as Sam locked eyes with the last man, Mute placed a large round directly in his face, filling the stairway with blood and brain matter. Mute quickly helped Sam up before aiming his gun backwards. They were in a narrow hall and Mute's shotgun would do quite a bit of damage. As they moved down the stairs, Mute shot the first man that came through the door, causing the others to hesitate.

Sam would notice that Mute only had four bullets left though, there were four men still downstairs and seven ready to come down the staircase after them.

"Hold these guys as long as you can." Sam told Mute before hurdling headlong down the stairs. As soon as he hit even ground, he turned to face the men, and immediately broke into a powerful sprint, breaking almost a hundred miles an hour, not giving the men any time to react to his presence. Sam used one of the men to help him come to a stop by colliding with him, and that poor guy obviously didn't survive the collision. Sam turned and delivered a powerful back hand with his left hand, the blow firmly colliding with one of the men. The force on his arm sent another jolt of pain through his dislocated arm, bringing his barbarous onslaught to a sudden halt.

Two men down, but two more ready to respond to it. As Sam arrived they both removed stun batons, quickly swinging and striking at Sam in unison. These two seemed ready for him, uninterested and unphased by the fact that he so easily just killed two of the others. Well, the first man had died while the other was still stunned. As Sam fought the two men with the baton, he heard Mute use another shotgun shell. Whether or not he killed someone with it was unknown. He had only three shots left, and after that would have to use his pistols.

The batons were heavy and struck hard on their own, but it was the jolt of electricity that would be the biggest problem for Sam, as each blow would damage his body and send him to a weaker state.

Sam let out a few gasps, but managed to refocus himself. He raised both of his hands and caught their hands on the next swings. Even in a weakened state, Sam was still considerably stronger than non-super humans. Once he had a hold of both of their hands, he squeezed and twisted, forcing their arms to twist awkwardly in their sockets and almost certainly causing them to drop their batons. Once unarmed, Sam shifted his grasp up to hold the men by the back of their heads and rammed the two skulls together. It wasn't enough to kill him due to the stun batons weakening his muscles, but most of his strength came from his blood, so the men were more than likely unconscious, if only for a minute. Sam turned to the man he backhanded earlier and delivered a powerful right punch to his face, sending him to the ground. Sam didn't know if he was unconscious or not, but he didn't have time to worry. He stamped on the man's throat to stun him for a bit longer and yelled, "MOVE YOUR ASS! Path's clear!" His voice was hoarse from the baton beating he took, and he found his legs occasionally betraying him as he made his way to the front door.

Mute fired off one last shot as Sam took care of his agressors, both of them dropping down from the blows. The last man tried to make a difference but Sam was just too powerful. All the men seemed to be down, with the exception of the seven that Mute was holding at bay. He fired another bullet before running towards Sam. He motioned for Sam to take the gun as they moved. Mute was going to drive with how weakened Sam's body was. At least Sam could still aim a gun, so he could cover their escape.

Mute rammed the front door open, causing it to swing open and crash in to a man that was apparently keeping guard outside. Mute noticed the man had a keyring on him and soon pulled off a car key before hitting the unlock button. One of the car's lights flashed as Mute motioned towards it, hopping in the driver's seat and starting it up. Sam would hear and see that the seven men had realized that Mute had moved. They were now on the first floor, running to head for them. As soon as Sam was in the car, Mute hit the gas to try and gain some distance, but Sam probably needed to give them a reason to still be hesitant in chasing them.
